Community Service and Outreach

In June 2024, Dr. Gigi and her son, Kyle joined Global Dental Relief (GDR) on a dental mission in Siem Reap, Cambodia treating children in a neighboring village.  The GDR Cambodia program has been in existence for over 10 years.  The dental needs are extreme and the experience was rewarding.  Over 6 days, 5 dentists treated 600 kids and completed 300 dental cleanings, 565 fillings, 545 extractions and 490 fluoride applications.  If you like to travel and would like to join a dental mission, visit https://www.globaldentalrelief.org. 

Although they very much need dentists and dental hygienists, you do not necessarily need to have a dental background to be a volunteer.  GDR always needs lay assistants and clinic helpers.  You just need to have a kind heart and have the stamina to work long (but rewarding) days.

Andria, RDH runs the Sugarbug Community Service and Outreach Program. The goal of our program is to educate the young children of our community and surrounding towns about the importance of their oral health so that they have healthy smiles for life. Dental cavities are the most prevalent childhood disease, yet it is preventable. Andria travels to neighboring preschools, day cares, YMCA’s and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
